Since launching Fare Free London in February 2024, we have learned about the international scope of the movement for free public transport. Some of the groups we have been in touch with participated in a “right to free mobility” conference in Brussels in April 2021.
In Brazil there are now 115 municipalities with free public transport: as the Rosa Luxemburg foundation reported , it has “gone from being a fringe issue to the mainstream” over the last ten years.
In France, the growing number of cities with free public transport is monitored by the Observatory of Cities with Free Public Transport . If anyone wants more detail, their “Resources” page includes articles in English.
