Two new groups have joined the call for free public transport: Doctors in Unite and the Independent Workers union of Great Britain.
Doctors in Unite, the UK’s oldest medical trade union, decided at its annual meeting on 2nd February to support Fare Free London.
“Free public transport supports social justice and equity of access to work, leisure and green spaces”, the union says. “It allows connection within and between thriving communities.” The union, founded in 2014, represents junior doctors, general practitioners and hospital consultants.

The Independent Workers union of Great Britain is backing Fare Free London. The union’s national executive decided at its January meeting to support our campaign for free public transport.
The union, formed in 2012 by Latin American cleaners organising for better working conditions, now embraces thousands of couriers, cycling instructors, charity workers, yoga teachers, cleaners, security officers, video game workers, nannies, university workers, foster carers, private hire drivers and more. We’re looking forward to working together for social justice and a pollution-free city.
